Terai Human Rights Defenders (THRD) Alliance is seeking competent, smart, energetic and aspiring Nepalese candidates for the following position:

1. Position – FUNDRAISING OFFICER (1)

Salary: Negotiable

Working Days/Hours: Sunday to Friday [10 am to 5 pm] except on holidays

Based in: Kathmandu (Field visit as per requirement)

Key Purpose: Develop sustainable fundraising strategy, plan, and programs for the projects  related to human rights, rule of law and justice in Nepal

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The fundraising officer in direct supervision of Executive Director of THRDA and in continuous consultation with Fundraising consultant will be responsible for the following:

  • Prepare analysis of strength, weakness, opportunities, and challenges for THRDA in terms of sustainable operation.
  • Develop public fundraising opportunities and activities through strategy development with clear targets and timelines.
  • Research and identify potential donors, funders and government agencies for funding the activities of THRDA
  • Attract, build and develop relationships with new and existing donors to secure long term and increased funding for the projects.
  • Keep a record/database of new and existing funders/donors and update on a regular basis with their call for grants and projects
  • Explore potential partnership with a national and international organization for joint projects
  • Research and identify philanthropic foundations and likely sources of funding both in Nepal and abroad.
  • Write grant proposals and other project documents or materials required for applying for the grants
  • Present THRDA’s activities and successes to communicate with donors in an innovative way
  • Prepare a regular periodical report for the organization and donor on the progress of fundraising

KEY REQUIREMENT

  • Minimum a bachelor’s degree with at least two/three years of experience in managing fundraising activities
  • Good knowledge of preparing fundraising strategies, activities and proposals
  • Previous experience in preparing multiple funding application forms and writing detailed and compelling proposals
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Sound knowledge of human rights project development and management
  • Experience in multi-media, social media and digital marketing
  • Research and presentation skills

 2. Position – FUNDRAISING CONSULTANT (1)

Salary: Negotiable

Working Days/Hours: Approximately 10 days every month

Based in: Kathmandu but the consultant may be required to travel outside If needed  

Key Purpose: Ensure sustainable operation for THRDA through strategic guidance, establishing linkages with different donors and exploring alternative fundraising opportunities for THRDA.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The fundraising consultant in direct consultation with Executive Director of THRDA and the THRDA team shall:

  • Assess the strength, weakness, opportunities, and challenges of THRDA for its sustainable operation.
  • Assess the priority of different donor agencies, government agencies and other institutions to support the activities related to human rights protection, strengthening rule of law, justice, and democratic institutions in Nepal.
  • Develop sustainable fundraising strategies, set clear target and timelines for the project developments and fundraising
  • Develop creative and innovative projects plans that suit the THRDA’s core values and also meet the priority of donor agencies.
  • Explore, identify and approach potential donors, funders, governments and bodies which could fund THRDA’s projects for human rights, rule of law and justice in Nepal
  • Carry out researches in the areas of THRDA’s expertise and present the findings to the potential donors for their interest in funding and working with THRDA
  • Prepare quality grant project proposals, concept notes, and other project documents or materials for THRDA required for fundraising
  • Provide technical inputs and expertise to the fundraising officer to meet the fundraising targets and timelines for the projects

Regularly brief the progress on fundraising activities along with the targets and prepare a report for the organization and donor

KEY REQUIREMENT

  • Master’s degree with at least two/three years of experience in managing projects and fundraising
  • Sound knowledge of preparing fundraising strategies, activities and proposals
  • Previous experience in preparing multiple funding application forms and writing detailed and compelling proposals
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to set the appointment with high-level officials from the embassies and INGOs and other donors
  • Comprehensive knowledge on socio-political as well as legal development in Nepal and priority of Government of Nepal as well as strategies of different donor agencies to support NGOs working in the field of human rights protection, rule of law, justice and democratic institutions in Nepal.
  • Research and analytical skills and competent negotiation skills
