Terai Human Rights Defenders (THRD) Alliance is seeking a competent Nepalese candidate for the following position:

  1. Position – HUMAN RIGHTS OFFICER (1)

       Salary: Negotiable

      Working Days/Hours: Sunday to Friday [10 am to 5 pm] except on holidays

       Based in: Rajbiraj  (Field visit as per requirement)

 

Key PurposeTo serve as the key representative of THRD Alliance in  Saptari and Siraha  districts assigned for the overall management of its activities, consisting of human rights monitoring, investigation, documentation, litigation, research and advocacy

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The  Human Rights officer in direct supervision of Executive Director of THRDA   will be  responsible for:

  •  Overall responsibilities for the management of the project in the assigned project districts
  • Prepare plan of action for the activities of the project in the assigned project districts and implement the planned activities
  • Prepare monthly reports of the activities and events accomplished in the project location
  • Attend and organize the coordination meeting with concerned stakeholders and partners for effective delivery of the project
  • Prepare human rights situation report of each district assigned to you on monthly basis
  • Overall responsibilities for the management of the project in the assigned project districts
  • Prepare plan of action for the activities of the project in the assigned project districts and implement the planned activities
  • Prepare monthly reports of the activities and events accomplished in the project location
  • Attend and organize the coordination meeting with concerned stakeholders and partners for effective delivery of the project
  • Prepare human rights situation report of each district assigned to you on monthly basis
  • Assist in preparing research reports and periodic reports, including annual report
  • Take the lead to undertake human rights and legal researches and case studie
  • Coordinate with Financial Department for the logistics of project events and preparing related documentation
  • Represent THRD Alliance at meetings, seminars, co-ordination and other events in the districts assigned.

 

   KEY REQUIREMENT

    –  Minimum  a Bachelor degree with one year of experience  in human rights program, social justice and rights based projects and legal issues

– Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills

– Sound knowledge of human rights project development and management

– Good communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work in a non-partisan manner

– Ability to work as a team player or work effectively as a part of a team

– Fluency in written and spoken English, Nepali, and local languages of the provinces assigned
